Using the perforated pipe in the drainage ditch would be a good option too. But that would get expensive. The perforations would allow the water to get in, but not the leaves and such. It wouldn't erode the ditch either. I think you're supposed to cover it with gravel though. So that and the pipe cost would be too much.
